Words Reveal Character

Matthew 12:33-37 33“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
- Words are very powerful
- Even more so to a believer
- Words produce effects
- Words can build you up or tear you down
The Sower Explained/ the seed is the Word of God
Matthew 13:18-23
“Listen then to the [meaning of the] parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand and grasp it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. The one on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once welcomes it with joy; yet he has no [substantial] root in himself, but is only temporary, and when pressure or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles and falls away [abandoning the One who is the source of salvation]. And the one on whom seed was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches choke the word, and it yields no fruit.
And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.”
75% don’t get it, but the 25% does because they…..Know how to be good ground
Proverbs 4:20-27(ERV)
20 My son, pay attention to what I say. Listen closely to my words. 21 Don’t let them out of your sight. Never stop thinking about them. 22 These words are the secret of life and health to all who discover them. 23 Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life. 24 Don’t bend the truth or say things that you know are not right. 25 Keep your eyes on the path, and look straight ahead. 26 Make sure you are going the right way, and nothing will make you fall. 27 Don’t go to the right or to the left, and you will stay away from evil.
What WORDS are we planting into our lives, our children, our husbands, our families and each other? God say’s to speak His WORDS, What does His WORD say about you, your situation, your family, your job, and ministry?
You are accountable for the WORDS you speak.
- First and for most to God.
- Second to ourselves
- Third Our families, our immediate family go through what you go through, whether you realize it or not.
- Last but very important the body of believers, people in your church family, We all go through this life together, we are not by ourselves once we are a believer.
Matthew 12:47-50 47Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” 48He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
GOD IS SAYING PAY ATTENTION, EACH LIFE MATTERS, SPEAK HIS WORDS OVER EACH OTHER, and TO EACH OTHER…Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit concerning our lives, encourage each other.
It cost Jesus a great price to make it where we could have all that God had for us, this family of God was not free. Jesus laid down his life so you could have a Heavenly Father that loves you so much and to teach you how to have a family like He has, to be part of His family. And it will cost us something too…
Luke 14:28 28“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?
Consider this:
- Count the cost (How many of us are believers, part of God’s family?)
- Building a relationship, a family, a marriage cost us ……but it’s worth it
- Being conscience of what you say
- Speak edifying words
- Words create an atmosphere (EX. wives loving our husbands with respect, not hurling insults at him remember your in a covenant not a competition with him. This will bring his heart to you, (1 Peter 3)it’s not an outward love of just your appearance but from the heart).
- This is a lifestyle of living the Word of God towards all people.
- You don’t know how to love others until you know how God loves us, His character, who you are now that you are in Christ Jesus.
- statically 10X positive words to make 1 negative word spoken to be dismissed
- Words of affirmation: I appreciate you, you are doing a great job, say thank you.
Galatians 6:10….be mindful to be a blessing
Don’t ever underestimate the power of your words. Satan doesn’t. He works constantly to get you to turn them in a negative direction. He’ll fire darts of pain and sickness and discouragement at you just to get you to speak faithless words—words that will eventually send your life up in smoke. Don’t let him succeed!
Make no mistake, your words aren’t meaningless or powerless in your life. They have creative power, just as God demonstrated when He created the heavens and the earth with His words. Now, you have the authority to do the same thing here on earth.
Begin to take control of your life by getting control of your tongue. Refuse to speak anything other than the Word of God about your life or situation. Then, watch as everything you’ve been believing for begins to come to pass.
When you take control of your words, you take back your life! As long as your words are in line with the Word of God, Satan can’t touch you. As you practice, don’t be discouraged if you miss it now and then. Just repent for anything wrong you’ve said and get right back on track. You will have what you say!
Some people believe that just like plucking the petals off a flower while saying, “He loves me, he loves me not,” blowing the dried seeds of a dandelion into the air gives information about their romance life. It’s believed that if you can successfully blow every seed off the dandelion in one breath, the person you are in love with will love you back. If you fail to blow them all off in one attempt, there may be problems with your love life.
The truth is if you blow all the seeds off there are consequences. When each seed blows through the air, it eventually lands, where it will likely form a new dandelion plant (also known as a weed).
Just like the words of our mouths they go out and land in our own lives and others…. and they create. God says, ” Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear”.
