Blended Family: A Love that Never Fails
1 John 4:14-16 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
We have a example of the love that God is living inside of us, with this beautiful blended family. No one thinks its possible to live and have peace, much less love after you have a divorce, break up and remarry and more children are added to the mix. We think in the natural we need to hate each other and have a terrible relationship. Even in the church we see such hate and brokenness in blended families. But what does the Word of God say, who are we called to pattern our lives after?
Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and
walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a
fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not
boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
So what do we know? If we have Jesus living in our hearts we should be following
His character, being His love to all people. This is Pastor Adam Clark of Church
on the Word Fort Gibson, and his family. Tiffany Clark, his wife who is expecting
baby Jonah, son Noah, and their daughter Mattie. Kelly Stangl, daughter Brylee (not pictured) and her daughter with Adam, Callie.
A blended family making family work with Christ at the center of it all. They live in different households, in different communities but share a child, this child will grow up knowing she is loved by both parents and a part of two families, as will the other children they have other siblings who are accepted as sister’s and not treated any differently.
We are called to Love, not pick and choose who we will love. It’s unconditional. Circumstance came upon these children from their parents, but God in these parents lives has made them able to not be selfish and come together to protect, always trust, to hope, and persevere this family.
