Blessed in Korea

family-side

The trip to Korea was more than we could of even anticipated. The moment we arrived our daughter and new son in law greeted us with open arms and gifts. It has been over a year and a half since we have seen her. We came fully prepared to give and sow into all the ministries here but God used these wonderful people to minister to us.

Bok’s parents, Pastor Jung and his wife met us at the apartment. They overwhelmed us with gifts and blessed us in so many ways!!!

The next couple of weeks we were in quarantine in the apartment but with negative test results we could have visitors with proper precautions. In this time our new young pastors Bethy & Bok had asked us to continue to counsel their growing relationship.

First of all, what an honor to be asked to speak into your adult children lives, to continue to pray for them and let the Lord work in our time together. Daily we spent much time teaching and counseling through the Word of God. Bok still was allowed to attend his church on Sunday to teach the children and the adult Chinese service. A Sunday for him started at 4 am to travel to Seoul and return home about 11pm. Our Sunday was having House Church with Bethy, going over specific things that the Lord prepared for us to teach.

Through the week we had opportunity to encourage and speak into the lives of our Korean daughters Youjin & Sujin Lee, and they blessed us tremendously!! We were able to build relationships with Bok’s family. We met his sister Ithel, Mary who is married to Peter (a most generous man) and their son 이환 pronounced ihwan. We enjoyed meeting Bok’s church family and friends. Bok’s senior pastor sent nice coats for us to have as a gift, along with members buying our lunches and dinners while we stayed in Korea. They were are all so giving, we were truly overtaken by blessings!!

After quarantine was up we had the opportunity to travel about and enjoy the Korean countryside. Bok’s deacon from his church, JK and his son Han wanted to take us to visit wonderful sites around Korea and we had a great time of fellowship. At the end of the day JK said, “ We are now family, we will keep in touch”. And we have done that since being home.

The last Wednesday before leaving Korea we went to Pastor Jung Jin Oh’s church located in downtown Yongin-si. As the service began Bok interpreted. Pastor Jung ministered on God being the only true God. He encouraged the congregation to let go of our idols, and completely trust in God, without Worry! A very timely message during this time of the pandemic. Many in Korea have lost their jobs the same as in America, and families are struggling.

Pastor Jung invited me to share with the people who we are and about Deep Roots Ministry. Bok as my interpreter I thanked Pastor Jung for the opportunity, and exhorted them all with our founding scripture in Colossians 2:6-7  And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

We were asked to pray over the families and the Pastors. They wanted photos to remember this time together.

Bok and Mike after service went up on the roof of the church, you could see the whole city of Yongin-si and as the Lord prompted they began to pray over the city, for revival and awakening to break out in the city, for many to be drawn in to all of the Churches around the city!

As our time had ended this trip we left with hearts of encouragement of the future for our daughter and Bok, for the Pastors of South Korea and for the people to draw near to God.

Our flights were changed 3 times before we boarded and we just prayed for God to order our steps home. On the first flight home out of Korea, we met a missionary couple who had been in Taipei, Taiwan training 90 pastors, they were on their way home. They are part of International House Of Prayer. He said, “ I love divine appointments,” little did we know we would be praying the whole trip home as we had such bad weather. I noticed their age and that his wife was in a wheel chair. God said, “This should remove any excuse we have for doing what God has told us to do”! In the future we will meet again for more divine direction.

All along the trip God was directing us to do things for people that seemed out of the ordinary, and out of whats expected during a “pandemic” but God is not restricted by anything!

As we returned home without our luggage…another story… we were not discouraged but continued in prayer as God directed and this is what the Spirit spoke to me. No one putting his hand to the plow and looking back is worthy of the kingdom of God. He reminded me to get ready for kingdom work. A reminder that if you want all that God has for you, you MUST be ALL IN!!! You can not be distracted with the worthless cares of this world. I AM ALL IN!!!

Matthew 8:18-22 The Cost of Discipleship
When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.

Deep Roots Ministries International, Inc.

What does Deep Roots Ministries do? We encourage believers to grow spiritually in Christ by discipleship. Continuing the works Jesus did. How do we do that? We study God’s Word to develop a Biblical worldview. Scriptures identify God’s plan for our lives. God’s will to us is revealed in His Word. Together we spend time reading the Bible and studying the Truths of the Word of God. Where do you do this? In our home and others homes with family and friends (small groups), teaching videos, and meetings. Where we are invited to share. Colossians 2:6-7 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
