The Lord’s Prayer Teaches Us How to Pray

He said that we should pray “in the following manner,” or pray “like this,” not to literally “pray this.” The Lord’s Prayer is primarily a teaching model.
Moreover, before teaching His disciples how to pray, Jesus told them what not to do in prayer. First, He said that when we pray, we must not be hypocrites—people who like to pray in public places, in front of an audience, to be noticed by others.
““When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.”Matthew 6:5
Christ encouraged His disciples to pray in secret because the Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward His children openly.
Prayer is not the amount of words we say, or the emphasis that we put on our words. But about praying the word of God that is the will of God. When you pray, according to God’s will, which is the Scriptures, then you know that he hears you and answers.
“And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.”
1 John 5:15 NLT
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.” Matthew 6:7
pray purposed prayers like this:
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
James 5:16 NLT
