RUN TO FINISH!!!

In 1992 Derek Redmond competed in the 400 meter Semi-final in the Barcelona Spain Olympics.

The video is a perfect expression of how this Christian Race is to be ran! There are several points to be made that compare greatly this to our spiritual race!

Like most races, it’s easy to start off well. It’s not until we get a ways into the race that things can get hard. 

Just like in Derek Redmond’s case, something WILL happen along the way to knock us down (physical injury or sickness, financial losses, spiritual hurt from family, friends, or other believers) These things can seem to paralyze us and make us want to stay down!

Just like those who rushed to Derek’s side when he fell to try to get him to just stay down, the enemy will always come along side to try to talk us into quitting! 

But just like Derek we must make a decision, NO MATTER HOW WE FEEL, to get back up and KEEP RUNNING!!! 

But, even though he has got back up, even though he is still trying to run, we also see that Derek is now hindered from the injury he sustained earlier. He’s is trying, but it hurts, it has slowed him down physically & emotionally. It has made him weak and unable to run in the capacity that he was able to before the injury!

BUT! BUT! BUUUUUUTTTT!!!!!!! Something happens as he’s TRYING TO RUN in spite of it all! HIS CARING, LOVING FATHER RUSHES TO HIS SIDE AND HELPS HIM FINISH!!! You see, when we are at our weakest, unable to keep going, OUR CARING, LOVING FATHER comes to our aid and uses HIS STRENGTH to get us across the finish line!!! We must realize that when we are weak, HE IS STRONG for us and will HELP US FINISH what He started in us!!!

NOAH didn’t quit! MOSES didn’t quit! JOSHUA & CALEB didn’t quit! DANIEL didn’t quit! DAVID didn’t quit! NEHEMIAH didn’t quit!  THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD didn’t quit! BLIND BARTEMAEUS didn’t quit! JESUS didn’t quit! PAUL didn’t quit! AND YOU DON’T GET TO QUIT EITHER!!!!!!

No matter what, JUST GET BACK UP & KEEP RUNNING & GOD WILL MAKE SURE YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE!!!

Hebrews 12:1 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
