What Freedom Looks Like..

I read a story about a girl who was so young she didn’t know she was going to do something that was going to be a significant reminder in her future.

STORY:[My dad had given my mom a parakeet when they got engaged. She named him Petey. She had grown to love the little green and yellow bird, especially since it was a gift from my dad.One day my mom took Petey’s cage outside to clean it, and since I was just a toddler at the time, I came along. Mom walked back into the house for a brief moment to get something, and when she returned, the birdcage stood wide open and Petey was nowhere to be found. For reasons unknown, I opened the cage while my mom was in the house. Petey saw his opportunity and flew away. I don’t remember letting Petey out of his cage. However, I do remember my mom’s reaction. She was crushed. Petey had been her beloved pet for seven years.]

Even in my own life this reminds me of where God has brought me from…. Out of abusive relationships and situations where I allowed myself to be. Many who live in bondage to the lies of this world feel as though they are trapped in a cage, unable to escape. The enemy’s cunning tactics of deception keep people blinded to the truth, and they no longer see freedom is an option.

When Jesus went to the cross, He not only died for our sins, but He also unlocked the prison doors that are associated with man’s bondage. Freedom is ours for the taking. But far too often the tight grip of fear never allows us to venture outside the cage.

Life outside our barred enclosure seems obscure and uncertain. Bondage is at least familiar and predictable.
Freedom? What does that even look like? While I cannot tell you how freedom will look in your life, I can tell you how it looks like in mine.

Freedom means…

  • No longer being controlled, manipulated, or influenced by the the lies of the devil
  • Seeking to please and gain the approval of God, not man.
  • Seeing people and the world around me through God’s eyes.
  • Surrendering my broken dreams for God’s incredible adventures.
  • Believing with all certainty God’s love is enough.
  • Knowing God loves me just as I am—and that’s all that really matters.

Freedom is so much better than I could have ever dreamed. Perhaps those thirty plus years ago, when I was just young and dumb, God kept drawing me to Him so I could see ad know the truth; life inside a cage is not a life worth living.

Please hear me when I say; you and I were meant to be free. It’s time to let yourself out of the cage and never look back. “…where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2 Corinthians 3:17.

You have people who are praying for you and can help you get on your feet again….call them!!!..Philippians 4:19.

My Prayer for you today is for you to ask God for His help,

Lord, help me get to a place of complete freedom. Give me the strength to walk away from this, Help me to see the plans you have for my life as you said in

Jeremiah 29:11-14

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.

Thank you, Lord, for answered prayer. Amen.

Deep Roots Ministries International, Inc.

What does Deep Roots Ministries do? We encourage believers to grow spiritually in Christ by discipleship. Continuing the works Jesus did. How do we do that? We study God’s Word to develop a Biblical worldview. Scriptures identify God’s plan for our lives. God’s will to us is revealed in His Word. Together we spend time reading the Bible and studying the Truths of the Word of God. Where do you do this? In our home and others homes with family and friends (small groups), teaching videos, and meetings. Where we are invited to share. Colossians 2:6-7 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
